Phase I Clinical Research Center Convex нow Equipped with Next-Generation SMART PFT Body Plethysmograph, Including Measurement of Carbon Monoxide Diffusion Capacity (DLCO) for Ultra-Precise Lung Diagnostics
At Convex now offers:
Enhanced precision in the diagnosis of respiratory diseases;
Improved monitoring of treatment effectiveness;
Expanded opportunities for scientific research.
What is а Body Plethysmography?
Body plethysmography is a specialized functional test of the respiratory system that provides detailed information about lung capacity, breathing mechanics, and gas exchange. Unlike standard spirometry, which only measures the amount and speed of airflow, body plethysmography offers a comprehensive assessment, including measurements of air volumes remaining in the lungs after exhalation, such as:
Total lung capacity
Residual volume
Airway resistance
Functional residual capacity
Inspiratory capacity
Expiratory reserve volume
Body plethysmography is a powerful tool for diagnosing and monitoring various respiratory diseases. Here are some of its most important applications:
Diagnosis of obstructive lung diseases: COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), asthma, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis. Body plethysmography helps determine the degree of airway obstruction and monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
Diagnosis of Restrictive Lung Diseases: Pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, pneumonia, lung tumors. The test helps assess the degree of limitation in lung capacity.
Evaluation of chest wall and respiratory muscle diseases: Kyphoscoliosis, neuromuscular diseases, obesity. Body plethysmography can reveal breathing mechanics disorders associated with these conditions.
Differential diagnosis in patients with unclear respiratory symptoms: Cough, shortness of breath, wheezing. The test can help differentiate between various causes of these symptoms.
Monitoring treatment effectiveness: Body plethysmography allows assessment of whether the treatment being applied is effective and whether improvements in lung function are observed.
Carbon Monoxide Diffusion Capacity (DLCO)
The Clinical Research Site Convex is equipped with the Smart PFT DLCO device. It is a high-tech system designed for rapid assessment of the carbon monoxide diffusion capacity (DLCO). This system is particularly effective even in patients with low vital capacity, starting from approximately 0.7 liters. One of the key features of the Smart PFT DLCO Transfer is its fast and exceptionally linear gas analysers, which enables the determination of diffusion capacity with a single breath measurement.
